National Signing Day began in the area at 9 a.m. Wednesday with two Riverwood football players and a third athlete signing with colleges.

Defensive backs Khalil Priddie and Randall Logan signed national letters-of-intent with Robert Morris in Pennsylvania and LaFayette, respectively. Both colleges are in Pennsylvania.

Priddie and Logan each played defensive backs as well as on offense for the Raiders.

Logan said he chose Lafayette after he visited the campus and got to know the players.

"I meshed really well with the guys," he said. "I really liked the facilities. They were some of the best I've ever seen, and I liked the campus as well."

Priddie said choosing Robert Morris was easy, especially where it is located (Pittsburgh).

"I'm from Brooklyn, so I have a lot of family close by and that means a lot, but I also liked the coaches a lot," he said. "They were pretty young and I got along with them and the players well."

Riverwood female cross country/track star Bret McDaniel signed with Wake Forest.

Westminster offensive lineman Andrew Bridges, a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, signed with Vanderbilt.

North Atlanta players Ronta Archie and Joshua Mills have signed with Tusculum College in Greenville, Tenn. while teammate Anthony Gordon has signed with Bethune-Cookman in Jacksonville, Fla.

North Springs defensive lineman Mike Ugenyi signed with Army and enroll at West Point in the fall.

Woodward defensive tackle Will Bryant, a Sandy Springs resident, signed with Duke University. Teammate Juwan Thompson (running back) also signed with Duke, and defensive end Henry Anderson chose Stanford.

Marist tight end Mike Crawford signed with Wofford. Kicker Justin Moore followed soon after with his letter of intent to play at Georgia Tech. Just two weeks ago, Moore was committed to play at Miami (Ohio), though Georgia Tech's recruiting process reopened at the start of the new year as four juniors declared for the NFL draft.

Offensive lineman Hugh Williams did not make an appearance on National Signing Day, though he reportedly chose to accept a preferred walk-on offer from Georgia over a full scholarship from Air Force. According to Moore, the decision was made Tuesday night, as Williams called the Georgia coaching staff to inform them of his decision.

St. Pius running back Cole Moon chose to sign at Georgia State over Georgia Southern, where he will have the opportunity to start at either halfback or linebacker. Moon's natural position of fullback in St. Pius' option offense does not exist under coach Bill Curry's offense at Georgia State.

Safety Brian Gee and wide receiver Justin Harris each signed with Cornell. Gee chose Cornell over Army, Navy, Georgia State and Presbyterian.

To close the day, Lovett's dynamic trio of Taylor Mack (Connecticut) Parker Sebastian (Harvard) and Jonathan Carkhuff (Davidson) signed letters-of-intent for football at 1:30 this afternoon.

Mack, who hopes to play as a freshman but said redshirting his first year is not out of the question, is excited to get up to Connecticut.

"I can't wait," he said. "I need to get a lot bigger, because basketball has made me small again, but after I get back [to my football weight] I'll be good.

"I'm looking forward to going to basketball games and I hope I can make the traveling squad as a freshman so I can go to the Big House when we play Michigan next year."

Carkhuff, Lovett's ace pitcher on the defending Class AA state champion, signed with Davidson for a plethora of reasons.

"I really like the offense," he said. "It's multiple, so it is a lot like what we run at Lovett.

"I also liked the fact that it is close to home [a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Atlanta] and it is also very strong academically."
